Two women were shot dead in public at Daraja Mbili market in Kisii County on Thursday night.
Eyewitnesses say that administration officers from quick response team conducted the inhuman act. It is reported that he officers who were driving in a police vehicle came across a boda-boda accident and tried to arbitrate.
A clash resulted prompting the two women to move in beseeching with the officers to forgive the riders. Minutes later, shootings were heard.
One of the middle aged women died on the spot while the other was pronounced lifeless upon arrival at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
‘I have just seen the worst day of my life. How could my daughter die in such an unnecessary manner?’ the father to Onsoro lamented.
The incident sparked heavy protests in the area, with boda-boda riders obstructing the Kisii-Migori until around 9pm when police managed to contain the situation.
Deputy president William Ruto who was in the region was earlier attached to the killings which his team later refuted claiming that the officers were not part of Ruto’s team.
