Cases of land disputes are causing a lot of concern in Kihumbuini Location, Gatanga Sub-County in Murang’a County, area Assistant County Commissioner Rachael Mulandi has said.
Mulandi particularly took issues with Gathinji Village in Kiunyu Location boundary disputes involving seven families where neighbors are at logger heads while families are not seeing eye to eye due to disputes that are likely to stem insecurity in the area.
The officer called on land officials from Thika Land registry to urgently address the matter before getting out of hand.
“There is a land tussle that could culminate to an insecurity challenge if not addressed now,” he said.
Early this week, police had to move in to thwart a near bloody confrontation between seven families who are engaged in boundary disputes at Gathinji Village.
One of the villagers, Samuel Karung’ori Kihara claims that his one hectare piece of land has been encroached by neighbors, claims that the neighbours have dismissed.
The ACC now wants land officers to produce scale-maps and registration of status of the disputed pieces of land before streamlining boundaries.
