Thika Patrick Wainaina has urged elected leaders and especially those from Mt Kenya Region to stop politicking and instead work for the people that housed them to power.
Speaking after launching the constituency self-help groups, the MP said that leaders were spending their energy on admonishing each other instead of working for their electorates.
“We are just recovering from a dreadful political swamp that almost brought this country to its knees. It is wrong to keep the country in an endless campaign mood and that is why I am saying that this talk (about a 2022 Mt. Kenya political kingpin) is untimely,” said Wainaina.
The legislator appealed to his colleagues to instead grant President Uhuru Kenyatta some peace of mind to be able to reconstitute his government and roll out his agenda for his final term in office.
“As a country we have lost a lot of time and we can’t manage to waste another minute through the same. Yes, we may have our political differences but we also have individual and collective dreams of prosperity for our futures and our country. Let’s focus on the many aspects that unite us and let’s work for the people who elected us,” he said.
Noting that there is a time for everything, Wainaina asked Kenyans to rally their support behind the president and his deputy William Ruto as they guided the country to higher heights.
During the workshop organized by the Jungle Foundation Uwezo Team in conjunction with Thika West Social Development Officer Madam Constance Ngoa, participants were taught how to run their entities professionally for economic empowerment of both individual members and as a group.
