Security agents are investigating reports indicating that prominent Al shabaab commander has been operating a multi-million business in the city of Nairobi.
The commander identified as Ahmed Iman Ali is reportedly said to be owning several businesses in Gikomba market and Majengo, from which part of the profits are used to finance the extremists group, Al shabaab.
Police intelligences revealed that the commander, a Jomo Kenyatta University Engineering alumna, owns a go-down, boutiques and shops dealing in second-hand shoes and clothes in the busy marketplaces.
One of the errands malls located in the area is said to produce monthly earnings of up to Sh350, 000 which are sent to the Al shabaab commander.
Iman has also been allegedly letting out open stalls, which he owns near Pumwani, to clothes and shoe dealers. From these constructions, his proxies collect Sh150, 000 every month which is dispatched to the terror group through easy-going money transfer facilities.
Currently, Iman is said to be the frontrunner of the Kenyan rebels in Somalia and is the head of video fabrication for Al Shabaab.
According to establishments, the money collected from the trades is used for training, enlisting and logistics on terror goings-on in Kenya and neighbouring Somalia.
